Question :
I Have recently been diagnosed as having Diabetes. And am therefore taking Tablets to reduce my blood sugar level. Does my condition prevent me from diving? I am 33 and have a good level of fitness.

Answer :
Restriction on diabetics diving is primarily for insulin dependent diabetics. The reason, of course, is the possibility of a hypoglycemic reaction underwater . This would lead to drowning and/or cerebral air embolism. If you are well-controlled and in good physical condition and have no target organ problems (heart, eyes, kidneys) — then you should be OK to dive.

You can find detailed upto date information about diving and health, in the official website of scubadoc. (http://www.scuba-doc.com )
